 The Company

Palmetto Community Action Partnership (Palmetto CAP) helps the economically disadvantaged residents of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties to develop customized solutions to situational and generational poverty.

 The Challenge

Palmetto CAP had an old and sprawling website that was riddled with errors and difficult to update and maintain. They came to Colophon New Media with the simple objective of creating an informative and easy-use website that would serve their community.

 The Process

The first step in the redevelopment of Palmetto CAP was to understand the purpose of the new website. The organization’s available services are were not fully understood by the community, and the new website would need to communicate clearly what Palmetto does and how to engage the organization.

With a massive content organization task in front of us, Colophon began the process by mapping the new website and doing an inventory of available content. Using both the legacy site, and input form Palmetto Cap administrators, a fresh set of content was prepped and made ready.

Once there was clarity on what the new website would say and do, the design process began.

 The Solution

Colophon took Palmetto CAP through a complete design process and programmed a custom WordPress theme. A number of custom content modules were built to allow quick and easy updates the website so the communication would the community could stay current.
