Mulch Magicians, owned and operated by Richard Morrell, serves the Waxhaw area in Marvin, NC. The Mulch Magician difference is their attention to detail and excellent customer service. The friendly, hardworking crew is primarily made up of local high schoolers providing homes and businesses in the area with a superior mulch treatment. This company creates a positive impact the Marvin community by providing both gorgeous landscapes for their customers and great work & skill-building for young adults.

 The Challenge

Mulch Magicians became a proud sponsor of the Marvin Ridge High School Band and Color Guard in late August, which prompted Richard to approach Colophon New Media for a new website design. He wanted to make sure he had a professionally design website, as his marketing materials would feature at the Marvin Ridge football halftime shows. This created a tight timeline, with football games starting imminently. Colophon made a commitment to get their new website designed, programmed, optimized, and launched before the last home football game in early October.

 The Process

To develop this website, we utilized Colophon’s Three-Phase Web Development Process, stepping through design, programming, and content upload & site optimization. The team enjoyed the challenge of working with an approaching deadline and in true Colophon fashion, we were able to have the website up and running in 8 weeks.  

Mulch Magicians was able to proudly sponsor the local high school football team knowing that potential customers in their community would visit a state-of-the-art website designed to inform their mulch needs.

 The Solution

The Colophon team thrives on a challenge, like creating the Mulch Calculator tool. This calculator allows customers to build their comprehensive pricing estimate for their mulch project by simply selecting a product and measuring the dimensions of the areas to be mulched. This calculator required a website design and engineering team with experience in the home services industry to understand how to create this tool effectively for a potential customer. 

The Colophon programming team, led by Branislav Parchekliev, developed the Mulch Calculator tool with backend calculator logic to update live whenever customers entered their product, dimensions, and shape of their space. The tool factored in Delivery costs, multiple service areas, and various product pricing to provide the customer with a detailed quote to inform them on each line item cost in the calculator. The estimate is downloadable for the customers, and can be sent to the Mulch Magicians to instantly create a highly qualified and informed lead with little work required on the business’s end. This feature is a game-changer for home services businesses to generate high-quality leads and attract local website traffic to convert more sales.
