 The Company

Wellington Yacht Partners are a yacht brokerage firm on Rhode Island with a satellite office in Portland, Maine. The firm is comprised of nine brokers who are all highly knowledgeable and experienced in yacht sales.

 The Challenge

The partners at Wellington Yachts originally came to Colophon to explore how they could upgrade the look and feel of their legacy website while continuing to benefit from high quality search visibility they had built over many years of managing their web presence. The challenge for Colophon was to design and build a yacht brokerage website using the Yacht World API.

 The Process

Yacht World connects yacht brokers with buyers across the world. Unlike other real estate MLS systems that vary country to country, if a broker wants to gain international exposure for a boat, they need to list it with Yacht World. Colophon proposed a complete re-design utilizing the Yacht World API with the aim to build a system that syncs with a data feed on a regular schedule and keeps the website up-to-date with a single data entry point on Yacht World.

To add greater flexibility for listings that are intentionally left out of the Yacht World public display, Colophon created a system for loading boats directly to the website. The records flow seamlessly into the display and stay in perfect sync with the inventory on Yacht World.

 The Solution

Working with custom specifications set by the Wellington Partners, Colophon built a system to automatically sync their exclusive listings to the new website. Programmed on the WordPress platform, the new website has custom design and a full suite of custom tools and settings to allow Wellington administrators to have total control over all of their listings and other website content.

The website also includes a “Broker-on-Call” feature that automatically rotates assigned brokers to collect leads generated by the website. All data submitted from the site is collected in the website’s content management system.

Hosted on a low-tenant, powerful web server, WellingtonYachts.com is kept secure and updated by 24/7 monitors and software upgrades.
