 The Company

The Woodshed Lodge was constructed in 1904 and has been a retreat for Jay Peak visitors since the 1950s. It is open year-round and is the closest independent lodging to Jay Peak resort. The new owners, Bill and Carla Haynie, bought the lodge in early 2021.

 The Challenge

The new owners of The Woodshed Lodge inherited a very outdated website from the previous owners. Bill came to Colophon New Media to design a new website for the inn with the primary goal of improving search visibility and to allow the site to generate bookings for the inn. The Woodshed Lodge uses Airbnb to take bookings but the goal was to be able to take booking enquiries directly through their website.

 The Process

The new owners wanted to incorporate a new logo and brand image that they created. Colophon utilized the new image as a basis for the new website. The new website had to be designed to feature a presentation of the inn, its amenities and the local area info, as well as a photo gallery and a booking system.

 The Solution

A custom website capturing the cozy lodge atmosphere was designed for easy navigation and for a simple reservation process. In order for bookings to be done directly through their website, Colophon used a premium WordPress plugin that is able to sync their Airbnb availability calendar with the calendars on the website so that visitors can see what is available.

Built on the WordPress platform, the site is easy to update and is hosted on secure, state-of-art servers.
